Notes

'Sparkler' sedge (Carex phyllocephala 'Sparkler') is a grass for borders, accents, shade gardens, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy or loamy soil. It forms a clumping, evergreen mound 12 to 24 inches tall and wide. Greenish flowers appear in spring and summer, and birds visit the plant. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Mondo grass, Azalea, New England aster, and Society garlic.
