Notes
'Whirlwind' hosta (Hosta 'Whirlwind') is a perennial for shade gardens, borders, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and spreads 35 to 47 inches, so give it room. The flowers are fragrant and attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Bigleaf hydrangea, and Astilbe.
