Notes

'Blue Banana' honeyberry (Lonicera caerulea 'Blue Banana') is a shrub for the food garden, grown for fresh fruit, pies, jams, and jellies. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Fragrant yellow flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Plant a different mid season clone nearby, such as Boreal Beast or Honey Gin, so the berries set. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Lowbush blueberry, Alpine currant, Siberian squill, and Pacific Beauty calendula.
