Notes

'Dutch Chocolate' iris (Iris 'Dutch Chocolate') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall and bears warm red chocolate blooms in spring and again in summer. It also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Paul Scherer tulip, and Little Hottie panicle hydrangea.
