Notes
'Hot Lava' iris (Iris 'Hot Lava') is a perennial for the front of the border, pathways, and rockeries. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil. Its fragrant orange flowers have burgundy speckling around deep orange beards. It sits low on the menu for rabbits. Divide the clumps every two to three years just after blooming, and plant the rhizomes at or just below soil level.
Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Carnation, and Sedge.
