Notes

Joshua tree (Yucca brevifolia) is a tree for low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. It bears fragrant, creamy-white flowers on short spikes. Deer rarely make it their first choice. After you remove old flower stems, leave the dried leaves on the trunk, because they insulate the plant in cold weather.

Pairs well with Narrowleaf milkweed, Gold dust, and Elfin mother of thyme.

Native range

California and Nevada.
