Notes

Spanish bayonet (Yucca aloifolia) is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and xeriscape. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Whitish, pendulous flowers open in tall clusters, and birds eat the fruit. Place it with care, because the sharp leaf tips can hurt people. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Pineapple sage, Mexican petunia, and Mondo grass.
