Notes

Lavender (Lavandula pedunculata) is an herb for borders, containers, hedges, and xeriscape. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Its fragrant flowers open in spring and again in summer, and they attract butterflies and bees. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The evergreen leaves stay on the plant all year.

Pairs well with Lamb’s ear, Elijah Blue blue fescue, Purple Sensation ornamental onion, and Yarrow.
