Notes

'Stewart' Canadian hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 'Stewart') is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows at a rapid rate and stays between 24 and 60 inches tall with an arching habit. This evergreen draws birds to the garden.

Pairs well with Western sword fern, Red trillium, and Bellwort.
