Notes

'Crimson and Gold' Japanese quince (Chaenomeles superba 'Crimson and Gold') is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring, and the fragrant flowers attract bees and birds. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Lenten rose, Armenian grape hyacinth, and First Knight fountain grass.
